Ava is an application for real-time captioning and speech transcription developed by Transcense, Inc.; it is designed to assist deaf people, individuals with hearing impairments, as well as the people and organizations that communicate with them, in understanding the content of conversations that take place in person or online. It can generate captions instantly using the phone’s microphone, and it integrates multiple speakers’ voices, translations, text responses, transcribed content, and AI-generated summaries – making it suitable for use in classrooms, meetings, medical appointments, shopping, events, and everyday communications.

Main functions of the Ava APP

• Real-time voice subtitles:By opening the app, it is possible to use the phone’s microphone to convert spoken words in the surroundings into text on the screen in real time, allowing users to see what is being said simultaneously during face-to-face conversations.
• AI speech recognition:AI is used to process continuous conversations and generate subtitles quickly, making it suitable for environments where ongoing understanding of spoken content is necessary, such as in classrooms, meetings, medical consultations, and public events.

• Customized specialized terminology:It allows you to add names, terms, and organization-specific words in advance; it is suitable for professional content that appears frequently in courses, medical settings, and business meetings.
• Multilingual transcription translation:It supports voice transcription and translation in multiple languages; users can set the speaking language and the target language for use in cross-lingual communication in real time.
• Text-to-speech reply:Users with hearing impairments can type in what they want to say and have the application read it out in natural speech, allowing them to engage in two-way conversations quickly when verbal communication is not possible.
• Cross-application floating subtitles:On Android, subtitles can be displayed over other applications, allowing users to read along with the audio content being played while watching live streams, videos, or listening to podcasts.
• Offline subtitles:The official Android documentation states that subtitles can still be used in the absence of mobile network signal or Wi-Fi, which is useful in situations with unstable internet connections or when the device is in flight mode.
